JEWEL AMONGST THE HIVE
In the first place. We understand a Jewel to be a precious stone or semiprecious stone incorporated into a piece of jewelry; that means it could be in a ‘fully’ or ‘partially’ precious form.
Why this difference? – “fully/ partial”. You see, when a Jeweler is in the process of making ornaments, he either makes use of part of a precious stone and joins it with another element or make it in whole of itself without mixing it with any other material.
What actually defines this special stone is as a result of its ‘wholesomeness’ even amidst a hive. Now, a hive in this context is simply “a teeming multitude”; a group of people doing the same thing on the same chord, running same wonderful harmonious course.
Think of yourself as one single individual with so much vibe that could spur greatness and sweetness in the lives of others. You are born great and not less. You are created special and not arbitrary; your being is purposeful of course! There’s a value in you that could ignite the radiance in others – that’s exactly what you are created for. The devil could only create the fake of you by changing your mindset to always and continually see or think bad, worse or less of others. That’s the shocking side of it! And if such is the case, then you are losing your value as a special stone, if only when you allow negativity almost in every instances of your mind.
The words of our Lord Jesus Christ has so deeply signified and taught us how we as Christians, ought to present ourselves before the people, while bearing the name of Christ upon ourselves. For instance, when we see other people quarreling or fighting – what or how are we to respond to it? – fuel the acrimony in them, or silent the rage?
The account of Christ’s teachings in the book of Matthew chapter number 5 and from verse number 13 as regards this is exemplified as:
1. “Salt in the world”
2. “Light of the world”
V13. – “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted?…”. Think of the case of cooking your meat without salt or your soup with salt – it would be as good as ‘useless’. That’s the point. The same goes with character deficiency in us as Christians.
V14. – “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.”. That means that as a Christian, your light(character) is meant to be conspicuous and not to be hidden as much as it must not be questionable, corrosive or toxic.
And now…
V15. – “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house.” Now, this simply means, this same light of yours must not be questionable, corrosive or toxic to your environment, no matter what the situation is like. Even while you could site elements of abuse, of cheating etc, there are ways to tender your grievances even when you need to – people around you must truly be convinced that you are truly a good example of what you call yourself, and at the end gain your respect as a true light. Your life must be able to silence contention, prejudice and confusion that’s trying to erode peace amongst the people – such is what you are, and so much you live. The statement “Letting your light shine” doesn’t mean “displaying a talent or ability” in the realm of professionalism, where people applaud us and praise us for a talent showcased. Not at all. It simply means “possessing Godly Character for people to see and emulate.” And until we let our light shine amongst the people, then we are not true sons and daughters of God.
The bible has clearly showed that possessing good character is one outstanding quality a Christian could ever possess. Our speech and manner of approach to situations and people around us is generally relative to our character. Even while we have good points to tender in a known cause, how you present it is of utmost importance before people. If you have a reasonable point and your manner of presentation is awful or gruesome, ash or rude, then you have no point at all or your point is meaningless though! Listen to what the Bible says: “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man” – Col.4:6. So, it isn’t at all about your bright idea or smart point, rather your etiquette. For instance, etiquette is very prominent in our daily life as we relate with people. I think I cited a good example in my book “The Woman Whom Thou Gavest to Be With Me” About the Book
Some Hints To Helping You Shine Your Light:
1. Ensure to listen much than talking
2. Stylishly excuse yourself from a place of arguments
3. Surround yourself often with people of positive minds. This doesn’t mean you need to avoid people and adopt a criticizing lifestyle – that’s not what it means. It simply means, try and look for people who can build your emotional intelligence actively and positively
4. Select your friends. Do not let people select you
I pray, may the Lord God teach us to represent Him in this world of confusion, in the name of Jesus Christ. Remain blessed.
Let that light shine!
